Pretty Princess Attire

So now that Jack Frost has made his annual return, it is dress-up season for those of us that have aspiring princesses. We love to spend time trying on different dresses and shoes and jewelry and tiaras. Since the princesses are outnumbered in this house we like to surround ourselves with girly fun!

My daughter has been looking forward to her girl outing with Grama. They are going to Disney on Ice Princess Classics. I created a special outfit just for the occassion. A tutu and corset top with bow inspired by Cinderella. The corset top is made of light blue and white satin and has silver picot ribbon laced up the front and tied in a bow. The straps are sewn in halter style and tie in a bow behind the neck. The back of the top is corset style closure with satin ribbon laced through ribbon loops in the back and tied in a bow. The skirt is full length tutu with an added light blue satin bustle and finished in the front with a white rose. The set is complete with a huge silver, white, and blue satin bow on a blue satin headband.

I will be adding more styles of this set. I am currently working on a Snow White inspired set.

Holiday 2009 Charity Benefit Tutu Set Giveaway

This is a year that many would soon love to forget. Even those who are normally able to give freely and cheerfully may find it more difficult this holiday season. That is why I hope to bring some extra holiday joy two a couple of little girls this Christmas.

I have been asked to be a part of a Holiday Craft Show, "A Few of My Favorite Things", in Ankeny, Iowa. Here's a link to the Facebook page for more info, http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/event.php?eid=167255373176&index=1

There will be handmade items from local crafters and artisans featured at the show to benefit a local ministry, Ruth Harbor. I am very thankful that I have the opportunity to be a part of this event, and I hope that if you are in the area you may be able to stop out and shop a little. If you stop by my booth I will have a box for an entry to win a free tutu set.
On a personal note, I have a friend who faced an unplanned pregnancy during high school. Her parents chose tough love for her because she chose life for her child. My friend finished school, worked, and had several weeks of bedrest before giving birth to a healthy little girl and giving her daughter to her adoptive parents. What an amazing testimony of love! Thoe many years ago this ministry did not exist. What a blessing it is that Ruth Harbor is there for women who choose life for their children. Help is there during her pregnancy whether the woman chooses adoption or to keep her child.

The winner will receive a tutu and a bloomin flower headband or beanie, and the winner will also be able to choose to have a tutu and bloomin flower beanie set donated to Ruth Harbor or Blank Children's Hospital in their name.

Any orders placed in November will also be entered to win. Tutus and blooming flower headbands and beanies are perfect gifts for baby showers, birthdays, holidays, special occassion photos, and more.

Summer is flitting, fleeting and as always I am caught off guard for the busyness autumn brings to life. School begins the day early and our schedule isn't quite there yet. We are hurried and flustered and grumpy too.

So now that school is started I've had some extra time to create some new wonderful fall items. I've started with some costumes of course with the coming active season. The three I'm showing here are a cupcake, a pumpkin princess, and my favorite inspired by Minnie Mouse. I hope to have a few more to add tomorrow as well!

The cupcake costume is inspired by the shirt I bought at GAP that says "lil then a cute cupcake applique! I love this shirt and had to make a cute cupcake tutu, hairbow, and legwarmers to match. The tutu is a two layer style of brown tulle with little pompom sprinkles sewn on the layers. The top layer is icy pink glimmer tulle frosting. I love how this one turned out! The bow is a huge boutique stacked butterfly style with cupcake ribbon,

shocking pink, pink, and turquoise. The legwarmers are super
cute pink and brown stripe. I can recreate this exact set or I could also make the tutu in different colors or with sequins as the sprinkles instead of pompoms as sprinkles.

The Pumpkin Princess costume started with the super cute pumpkin ribbon I purchased from Hobby Lobby. The bow is huge 6 inch boutique stacked bow with the black and orange pumpkin ribbon, orange polka dot, black, and orange ribbon. The tutu is just a basic orange with an orange sewn satin waistband. The legwarmers are super cute orange and black stripe with little black and white polka dot bows. My favorite part of this set is the rhinestone shirt! The black puff sleeve tee is a soft tee from Old Navy with a super cute rhinestone saying "Lil Pumpkin" The rhinestone transfer was made for me by JewelTagz. I love it love it!! This is a OOAK as I'm not sure if I'll be able to duplicate the legwarmers. This set would fit a 3 yr old perfect. My daughter wears 4 or 5 and the tutu waist was a bit snug on her and she has a pretty thin waistline.

Finally the set Magpie was just dying to try on today. The set inspired by the famous Minnie Mouse. The tutu is very intricately designed red tulle with white satin polka dots all over and a sewn black satin waistband with a bow! The ears are beautifully crocheted in to the classic mouse club style and set on a black satin headband. The headband is finished with a three inch version of Minnie's signature red and white polka dot bow! We paired the set with a basic black leotard. I am working on some ears that are on clippies and would be so cute with pigtails! I could also make some black legwarmers to match the set. I can redo this set in any size you need for your little princess.

I hope to add more to this in the next few days. Please check back again for more exciting creations from Maggie's Rose Garden.

The weather is my bones' foe these days, and I've been a bit of a bear; hibernating and gaining a few pounds of extra blubber.

So today was a perfect day for Magpie and I to put on the puppet show of the century. She dressed in her best formal attire for the occassion, a lovely yellow tutu dress adorned with blue mums and satin ribbon streamers.

She enjoyed her part as the giraffe and courtsied and she said, "Thank you very much, thank you." Sadly we couldn't find the fairy princess so we'll have to save her act for another dreary day. I would like to find a couple of patterns to make our own puppets.

I've started working on Valentine items for the store. I have been busy making hair bows and tutus galore so stop by. I think I will be having a season of love sale in the next couple of weeks. Not sure yet what that will entail, but I think I will be trying to cater to brides as the wedding season is starting right now. I have a wedding show to do towards the end of January. That should be a great experience.

I know I'm kind of rambling. I think I could really just go to bed right now and sleep until my husband tells me its time to get up. Maybe he'll let me sleep in and get the kids ready for school....maybe : )
